Gary also had four great Grand-children, Breccan, Huxley, Kali and Shepard.  Gary will also be sadly missed by his wife Pat Thomas, whom he met after the death of his Alberta in 2009. Pat helped fill a huge void in his life as his partner, best friend and travelling companion. The pairing of Gary and Pat was exactly what they both needed and the two of them were always seen together around town and rarely in idle mode. With Pat being a professional PSW and Gary recently taking ill, she was a dynamo of energy and expertise with Gary’s appointments with love and care till his last breath. Gary will also be missed by Pat’s family, her son’s Barrie and Darren and grand-children Maegan, Noah, Sam and Rhiannon.   A special mention to Gary’s oldest son Michael and daughter-in-law Cheryl for the many hours of help, driving and support through the difficult time of Gary’s illness.  Gary was born on May 30, 1939, in his parent’s house in Napanee. After his education Gary worked at a variety of jobs in the area with the bulk of his career in dispatching within the transport industry, as well as roles of terminal managers. Gary then semi-retired and made a major career to working for Alberta’s “Burt’s Bakery of Tweed” until full retirement in 2007.  Gary cherished his family, friends and enjoyed traditional country music. He was a “monster amateur golfer” and was a force to be reckoned with even in his last season 2018. He made many friends through the sport. Music was always a major presence in the Young household, with Gary teaching his kid’s guitar, hosting jam sessions and eventually “The Young Family Band” was born. The Young Family band has performed country and bluegrass music far and wide with four music CD’s to Gary’s credit, and has had years of fundraising jamborees for local organizations in excess of $30,000!  At Gary’s request, a private family service will be held. A celebration of life for Gary is planned for Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Stoco Hall. For more information, look for updates at www.theyoungfamilyband.com .  In the spirit of the Young family’s tradition of giving back to the community, donations to either The Gateway Community Jazz Ensemble or The Tweed and Area Arts Council would be appreciated and may be made through the assistance of McConnell Funeral Home, Tweed (613-478-3535)
