ROSENPLOT: Walter Casler
Peacefully passed away at
Belleville General Hospital, on Sunday, January 5, 2020 in his 95th year.  Cherished husband and best friend of Marguerite (Meeks) for over 74 years.  He will be lovingly remembered by sons Douglas, Belleville; Bruce (Late Barb) Oshawa, Roger (Evelyn), Belleville; his sister Helen Bodechon (Nepean), all his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and their families.  Predeceased by his parents Earnest & Delia (Brown) Rosenplot and his brothers Carl, George, Willis, Wellington, and Paul as well as his sisters Ethel Drier, Muriel Lott and Myrtle Leveck.  Retired from Sawyer Stoll Lumber and Tweed Pallet Plant, he was a skilled craftsman with wood and leaves behind a large collection of treasured items he lovingly made.  The family will receive friends at the McConnell Funeral Home Tweed, on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon.  Interment Victoria Cemetery.  Reception to follow at the funeral home.  Special thanks to the staff on Quinte 4 and the VON Assistive Living for Seniors Program workers.  Donations: Heart & Stroke Foundations or the Canadian Cancer Society.

At Peterborough Regional Healthcare, on Friday. December 27, 2019. Keith Deshane, of Stirling, in his 83rd year. Cherished husband of late wife Laurel Margaret (Arbuckle).  Son of the late George & Marjorie (Young) Deshane.  Loving father of twins Jamie (Cathy) Deshane of Stirling and Julie (Harry) Hollenga of Bobcaygeon. Loved by his 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Keith will be remembered for his love of gardening and his caring, kind manner with all the people he encountered. He was a hard working, spiritual man who will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank Campbellford and Peterborough hospitals as well as all the VON staff who gave such great care in and away from home. Passed away peacefully, at home, December 20, 2019, in his 91st year. Beloved husband of 30 years to Gwen (nee: Reid). Son of the late George and Mae Williams. Predeceased by his brother William Williams, wife Joan Williams, son Doug Ray and daughter Mary McLaughlin.  Loving father of Lois (Ian) Stark, Margaret Ann (Al) Ryan, Patti (Larry) Harrison, Peggy (Mike) Smith, Debbie Spatola, George (Evelyn) Williams Jr., Garth (Connie) Williams and Jimmy (Bonnie) Ray.  Loving brother of Eileen Morley and Jack  (Vivian) Williams. MCRAE: Ronald McDonell
Ron died peacefully in Marmora, December 3, 2019 in Ontario, at the age of 76. Ron is survived by his dear friend Ellen Shakura (Toronto, On), Daughter, Susan McRae (Belleville, On) Son, Ron McRae (Prince Edward County,On) Much loved grandchildren Mitchell King (Kingston, On), Chantal Brose (Garrett) (Kingston, On), His siblings, Marie Kenyon (Dave) ( Burlington, On), Allan McRae (Vernon, BC). And by many Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.  Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Rose Antoinette McRae (nee McDonell), John Wallace McRae, his eldest son John “Michael” McRae, his brothers Ian McRae, Lorne McRae and Michael McRae. Ron was born on February 3,1943 in Cornwall, Ontario to John and Rose McRae. Ron spent his early years at the family farm in Glen Nevis, Ontario. After moving to Brampton, Ontario, Ron worked for many years as a painter with his father John and for himself as a painter. Later, Ron attended George Brown College where he received a diploma as a Personal Support Worker. He worked for the Toronto Seniors Centre Dixon Hall for almost 30 years before retiring in 2016. Ron enjoyed baseball, pool and bingo. He was a hard worker.  He had a good sense of humor and he loved chocolate, lots of chocolate, and was passionate about coins. He was an active and dedicated member of the High Park Group, was their treasurer for many years and often volunteered at the group functions. A Celebration of Life will take place during the summer of 2020 with the details to be announced at a later date. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ron’s life. It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Dale, on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Heart of Hastings Hospice, Madoc, after a long battle with cancer.  Son of the late Willard and Keitha Wood.  Husband of Christine Wood (nee: Reavie).  Predeceased by wife Bonnie (Barker) and his brother Arthur Wood.  Father of Andrew (Vicki) Wood, Vince (Tammy) Wood, and Rachel Reavie.  Devoted poppa to James, Joshua, John (Noelle), James, Alex, and Robin.  Dale will be dearly missed by his 8 great grandchildren, his many sisters and brothers and nieces and nephews.  Special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Heart of Hastings Hospice, Madoc, who made Dale’s last days comfortable.  As per Dale’s wishes, cremation has taken place,. Ottawa on November 18, 2019.  Son of the late Harry & Elsie Tufts, Douglas Tufts of Madoc, Ontario, was born on December 8, 1932 and “took his final flight” in his 87th year.  Doug is survived by his sons, Colin Tufts (Cassandra Bowers), Toronto; Paul (Patricia) Tufts, Vancouver; his stepdaughters Christina Amos and Nancy Amos (Delaney Turner), Ottawa; and his grandchildren Phoebe Tufts, Ashton Tufts, and Maia Dyer Amos.  Doug was predeceased by his beloved daughter Andrea Tufts and his siblings Bevis "Bev" Tufts and Shirley Posnikoff.  Doug was a civil engineering graduate of Royal Military College (RMC) and had a long career in the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving in both Europe and Canada.  Doug finished his career in Ottawa working in the Public Service of Canada.  Upon his retirement, Doug moved back to his roots on the family farm in Madoc where he enjoyed raising cattle.  Friends and family will be received at the McConnell Funeral Home, Madoc, on Saturday, November 23 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with a service taking place at 1:00 p.m.  Interment to follow at White Lake Cemetery, Madoc.  Donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (https://www.heartandstroke.ca),  Alzheimer Society of Canada (https://alzheimer.ca/en/Home), or Canadian Wildlife Federation (http://www.cwf-fcf.org/en/) would be appreciated

EMBURY:  Verna May
After a brief illness, Verna May Embury passed Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Kawartha Lakes Extendicare in Lindsay, Ontario.  She was born March 11, 1926, at home, to the late Lizzie (Bailey) and Bruce Clifton Embury, of Madoc, Ontario.  She dedicated herself to a career in nursing, having trained at Oshawa General Hospital, graduating in 1953.  She worked briefly at Tavistock, Ontario and then settled in Lindsay and worked at Peel Memorial Hospital until her retirement.  She was immensely proud of her home, which she shared with her beloved Pomeranian dog “Joy”.  She was also involved in leadership positions with Girl Guides Canada for over 40 years and enjoyed going camping at every opportunity.  Verna was predeceased by her parents, brother Elmer, sisters Lillian (Kelvin) Morrison and Marion Embury.  She is survived by twin sister Vera Embury, of Belleville, Ontario, nieces Judith (Dennis) Laffan, Jean (Randy) Barre, Nancy (David) Roach and nephew Gordon Morrison and numerous great nieces and nephews.  We would like to thank the staff at Kawartha Lakes Extendicare and a special thank you to Bev and Castle Keep for their continued support and exemplary care for our aunt Verna in her final years of life.  Funeral services will be graveside and interment will be in the Embury plot at Lakeview Cemetery, Madoc, Ontario on Saturday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m.  Arrangements, McConnell Funeral Home, Madoc.  “Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation.  The old is gone; a new life begun.”  2 Corinthians 5:17

Moira Place , Tweed , on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.  Winnifred Seaborn, of Coe Hill, in her 95th year.  Daughter of the late Charles & Eliza Woodbeck.  Wife of the late Gerald Seaborn.  Mother of Dawn (Craig) Coyle, Janice (Bill) Brinklow, Morris (Marie) Seaborn, and Craig (Glenda) Seaborn.  Grandmother of Tammy, Jennifer, Kristin, Allison, Lesley, Matthew, Eric, Noel, Ian, and Sarah.  Great grandmother to 19.  Winnifred is predeceased by her many siblings.  Friends will be received on Friday, September 27th in St. Andrew’s United Church , Coe Hill, from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.  Funeral Service to take place on Saturday in the church at 10:30 a.m.  Interment to follow St. Andrew’s United Cemetery , Coe Hill.  Arrangements entrusted to the McConnell Funeral Home, Madoc.  Donations made to St. Andrew’s United Church , Coe Hill, would be appreciated.

At Caressant Care Nursing Home, Marmora, on Sunday, September 8, 2019.  Carl Gaebel, of Madoc, in his 88th year.  Husband of Ila (Lisk).  Father of Clinton, Carla, Brian and Brenda.  Loved by his 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Cremation has taken place.  A Memorial Service will be held in St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church, Madoc, on Saturday, September 21, at 12 Noon with visitation from 10:30 a.m.  A reception will follow in the church hall.  Donations:  Heart of Hasting Hospice or Centre
