GALLANT: Léo Joseph
After a brief battle with cancer, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Thursday, July 13, 2017.  Léo Gallant, of Marmora, in his 75th year, went to be with his Lord.  Son of the late Israel and Rita.   Beloved husband of Diane.  Father of Richard (Sue), Lisa (Steve) Lester, and Leanne (Phil) Snow.  Grandfather of Cassandra, Tyler, Jaxon, Alexis, and Lucas.  Pre-deceased by his brothers Robert and Leonard.  Friends will be received at the McConnell Funeral Home, Marmora, on Sunday, July 16 from 2 – 4 p.m. & 7 – 9 p.m.  A celebration of Léo’s life will take place on Monday in the Frankford Community Christian Reform Church, 149 King Dr., Frankford, at 11:00 a.m.  Interment Mont Nebo Cemetery, Springbrook.  Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

At the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Tuesday, July 11, 2017.  Dale Mocon, of Marmora, in her 67th year.  Beloved wife of the late Edward (Ted) Mocon.  Loving mother of Lee (Robbi Lance-Mocon) & Beth (Jammie Humphries).  Proud grandmother of Jayda, Jonathan, Tyson & Molli.  Dear sister of Donna Carnrite (Frank DiPaulo), Nancy Harrison (Dwayne) & Lynn Carnrite.  Dale will also be sadly missed by her extended family members Lisa & Philip McInroy & Sherry & Tim Forbes.  Cremation has taken place.  The family will receive friends at the Marmora Pentecostal Church on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 12- 2 p.m.  A Celebration of Life Service will take place immediately following at 2:00 p.m.  Luncheon to follow.  Donations in memory of Dale may be made to the Marmora Pentecostal Church for their children’s programs.  Arrangements, McConnell Funeral Home, Marmora.

LUETCHFORD: Robert “Bob” Wayne
At his home, on Monday, July 10, 2017.  Bob Luetchford, of Oshawa, in his 74th year.  Son of the late Leonard and Marion Luetchford.  Beloved husband of Bonnie (nee Cave).  Father of Rob (Marnie), JoAnne (Serge), and Matt (Carolynn).  Grandfather of Edd, Aleena, Maksim, Brock, Maёlle, and Marcus.  Brother of John (Joan) Luetchford.  A reception will be held at the King Street Community Church, 611 King St. West, Oshawa, on Saturday, July 15 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.  Cremation has taken place.  Donations made to the Heart of Hastings Hospice, Madoc, would be appreciated.  Arrangements, McConnell Funeral Home, Madoc.


VANCE:  June Marie (Barr) 
June, of Tweed, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2017 at Moira Place AON, Long Term Care. 
Born in Capreol, Ontario October 31, 1931, June was the daughter of the late Marie (Scott) and Gordon Barr.  She was predeceased by her husband, James Arthur (Art) Vance, in 2000.  Surviving family members include children Mark (Deborah), Surrey B.C., David (Rita), Tweed ON, Gail, Kelowna, B.C., and grandchildren, James & Brendan Vance of B.C., Michael (Caroline), Lisa (Greg), & Laura (Dan) Vance, Tweed ON, and Callum & Devan Frost of B.C., as well as great grandchildren, Heidi, Juliana & Nolan Vance, of Tweed ON.  Also surviving are sister Carol (Paul) Ruston of Key Harbour, sisters-in-law Betty Flower, Renfrew, Carolyn (Dennis) Gaunt, of B.C., and many nieces & nephews.    June attended Public and High School in Capreol and further, Business College in Sudbury.  She was employed with the Department of Education in Sudbury for seven (7) years and was also employed with the T.C.A as a stewardess.  June married Art Vance in 1957.  She was a stay-at-home Mother until 1970, at which time she worked part-time for The Tweed News until 1990. At the request of June, there will be no visitation or funeral service, but a private internment held at Thomasburg Cemetery.  Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 1600-20 Eglinton Ave W, Toronto, ON, M4R 1K8.  


MARSH: Dorothy Rosemond (neé Deline)
At Quinte Health Care Belleville General, on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.  Dorothy Marsh, formerly of Tweed, in her 93rd year.  Daughter of the late John & Ella Deline.  Beloved wife of the late Dawson Lee Marsh.  Dear mother of Lorraine Pyle (Calvin).  Proud grandmother of Nicole Quinlan (Rob), Natasha Sinclair (Doug Bauder), Ashley Pyle.  Great grandmother of Kendra Miller, Abbagail Miller, Sara Quinlan, Erin Turner, Caleb Bauder & Great great grandmother to Sophia Koch.  Dorothy is predeceased by her siblings Edward Deline, Melvin Deline, Kenneth Deline, Ruth Cornell & Dalton Deline.  Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Dorothy's life will take place at the Tweed Memorial Park (Outdoor Pavilion) on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00a.m.  Please bring your own lawnchairs.  Luncheon to follow.  Donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Salvation Army through the help of McConnell Funeral Home, Tweed.  The family would like to thank Dorothy's caregiver Joyce at Hastings Manor & all the doctors, nurses & staff on Quinte 6, Belleville General for their kindness & compassion towards her.

Born December 2, 1931, Erkki went to be with his Lord, on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Quinte Health Care Belleville General Hospital. Beloved husband of 59 years to Ritva Karvonen (nee Uotila). Cherished father of Anne Polonen (Timo) and Raimo Karvonen (Susan). Dearly loved grandfather of Christopher Polonen, Carissa Polonen, Jeremy Polonen, Tristan Karvonen and Declan Karvonen. Dearly missed brother of Tarmo Karvonen, Aila Oksanen, Eila Brunnström and Raimo Andersson. Predeceased by his loving sister Lilja Kulmala. Peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.  Glen Thompson, of Marmora, in his 59th year.  Son of the late Harold & Helen Thompson.  Husband of Terry (nee: Elsasser).  Father of Stefanie (Eugene) Hagiwara, San Francisco, CA; and twin sons Robbie (Brittany), Marmora and Ryan (Andrea), Kingston.  Grandfather of Jaxton, Jorja, and Oliver.  Brother of Grant (Virginia) and Garry (Bonnie).  Glen had a strong career in the automotive industry with employment at Don McCurdy, Wells Ford, Woodbeck Auto Parts, and Dan Patterson Auto.  At Glen’s request, cremation has taken place.  Donations made to the Heart of Hastings Hospice would be appreciated.

Gordon John Farrimond, born on September 26, 1949, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017.  Gordon was, and always will be, the force of nature that anchored our large family. He was a rarity in this world and will be fiercely missed by his beloved wife of 25 years, Judy; his 5 children, Emily, Lori, Katie, Julia and David; their partners; his 10 and 1/4 grandchildren; his sister Diane (Roman) Horbay; and his nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Henry and Edna. His perpetual curiosity and never-ending strength will be carried on by all those whose lives he touched. YOUNG:  Ross
Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Hastings Manor, 
Belleville, on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.  Ross Millard, of Sulphide, in his 91st year.  Son of the late Millard and Maude Young.  Husband of the late Dorothy (nee: Rogers).  Father of Bob (Carol), Linda (Gord) Stubbs, Karen (late Jim) Davis, Tom, Rita (late Gerald) Booth, Cindy Young (Ed Tufts), Nancy (Frank) Barnhart, Ross (Connie), Kelly Young (Richard Seemungal), and the late Diane, Steve, and Paul.  Ross will be missed by his 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.  Predeceased by his brother Harry and sister Mildred Luffman.  Ross was an employee of Allied Chemical in Sulphide for 22 years. He then worked at Corby's Distillery for 22 years, first as a watchman and later as a bottling room supervisor.  Ross suffered with Alzheimer's for the last 10 years and is now at peace.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Hastings Manor for their care of Dad.  Special thanks to the staff who provided compassionate palliative care during his last few days.  The family will receive friends at the McConnell Funeral Home, Tweed, from 1 - 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 7 with funeral service at 3:00 p.m.  Spring Interment St. James Anglican Cemetery, Tweed.  Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

As the result of an accident, on Saturday, December 31, 2016.  Myles Biggs, of Roslin, at the age of 32.  Son of Aaron and Dianne (Gorr) Biggs. At Quinte Health Care Belleville General, on Monday, January 2, 2017.  Kathryn (Matthews) Underhill, of Madoc, in her 81st year.  Daughter of the late Jim and Vivian Matthews.  Wife of Ralph Underhill.  Mother of Mary (Dean) Lockwood, Cindy McMaster, Barbara (Rick) Matthews, Joseph Underhill, Betty (Rick) Carpani, Agnes Underhill, Ralph Jr. (Dana) Underhill and the late Vivian White.  Grandmother of 20 and great grandmother of 20.  Sister of Jack Matthews and the late Edna Barker, Shirley Fondeur, Betty Seccombe and Edith Gardner.  Survived by many nieces and nephews.  The family will be receive friends at the McConnell funeral Home, Madoc, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday.  Funeral service in the Madoc Chapel on Friday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m.  Spring Interment Cooper Cemetery.  Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

TUFTS:  Arthur Herman
Passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Hastings Manor, in his 95th year. Son of the late Cosmo Tufts and Edith McCumber. Beloved husband of the late Bessie Robertson for 66 years.  Dear father of Marilyn Hughes (Richard) of Belleville.  Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Lorrie Heffernan (late Michael), of Belleville, Heather Hughes (Betty Proctor), of Picton and Jamie Hughes (Phoun), of Toronto.  Missed by his great-grandchildren, Michelle and Kirby Heffernan and Katie, Natalie and Alistair Hughes.  Dear brother of Mabel Horton (late Melroy) of Thomasburg, Robert Tufts (late Elizabeth)  of Campbellford, the late Alice Brown (late Clifford), Belleville and the late Ernest Tufts (Joyce), Tweed.  Arthur was employed by Corby Distillery for 35 years, as was his wife, Bessie.  He lived an interesting and productive life, including many years in the Corbyville community, also at Stoco Lake where the whole family enjoyed his speedboat, waterskiing and fishing.  After retirement, they enjoyed several winters in Florida, sharing the social life with several Tweed folks.  Arthur possessed an amazing memory of the life and people of Tweed and district in the 1930's and 1940's, and related endless tales of those early days. The family is deeply appreciative of the loving care given to Arthur during his 10 years at Hastings Manor. The family will receive friends at the McConnell Funeral Home, Tweed, on Thursday, December 22 from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service in the Tweed Chapel on Friday, December 23 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Victoria Cemetery, Tweed. TANNER:  David George
David Tanner passed away peacefully, on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, with his son and daughter by his side.  Born on the Madoc farm, on May 17, 1942, David was a loving son to the late Calvin and Gladys Tanner.  David spent most of his life in Peterborough and Whitby, working thirty-nine years for the Ministry of Transportation, dedicating his skills to surveying and development of Ontario’s highways.  When he wasn’t working on the road, he could often be found driving on it, cruising in his 1971 Chevy truck, to his winter retreat in Florida, visiting his brother Glenn at Motor City Crane, to Tokley’s garage in Madoc, and to the many antique automotive shows across the province. During his younger years, David’s volunteer work as a coach for a little league hockey team was one of the many ways he enjoyed spending time with his son, Brad.  David will be dearly missed as a loving father of Brad Tanner (April) and Leslie Armour (John).  His grandchildren enjoyed visiting ‘Grampy’ and always had fun taking him for walks and giving him warm hugs.  David was a dear brother of William Tanner (Clare), Ruthanne Deline (Ivan) and the late Glenn (Nora) and Carl Tanner.  David will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews, always a source of great pride.  Cremation has taken place.  The family will receive friends at the McConnell Funeral Home, 112 Durham St. S., Madoc, from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, with memorial service at 11:00 a.m.  Spring Interment St. Thomas Cemetery, Springbrook.  If desired, donations to St. Thomas Cemetery would be greatly appreciated by the family.

At Marmora Caressant Care Nursing Home, on Thursday, December 15, 2016.  Eveyln Johnston (formerly Davidson), in her 90th year.  Daughter of the late Fred & Annie Mae Shaw.  Wife of the late Sam Davidson and James Johnston.  Mother of Walter (Sharon) Davidson, of Marmora, Gale (Colin) McNeil, of Alliston, and Karen (Ross) Reid, of Deloro.  Grandmother of Sheryl, Tracy, Shawn, and the late Samantha.  Great grandmother of Amanda, Justin, Katelyn, Michael, and Daniel.  Sister of the late Grace, Alex, Douglas, Lila, and Raymond.  Friends will be received at the McConnell Funeral Home, Marmora, on Saturday, December 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.  Funeral Service in the Marmora Pentecostal Church on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.  Spring interment Marmora Common Cemetery.  Donations made to the Marmora Pentecostal Church or Campbellford Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.

MacCauley: Joseph Lonnie
Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Campbellford Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday, December 13th, 2016, at the age of 77.  Beloved husband of Deena and most loving father of Tina (Clint Gray), Melanie (Raimond Manno) and Lonnie (Darren Farrell).  Dear grandpa of Dana, Amy, Ryan, Christopher, Delaney, Damien, Tony, Sam and Ben.  Cherished brother of Mona (Harley Thompson) and Kaye (late Eldon Bull).  Predeceased by his parents, Melville and Greta MacCauley and brother Roy.  Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Joe was an active member of his community and faithful supporter of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.  He will be sadly missed , however his love will live on.

HERMES: Jurgen
At his home on Sunday, December 4, 2016.  Jurgen leaves his wife, of 22 years, Michelle.  He had one daughter Petra and one son Neil, three grandchildren Adam, Siena and Willy.  His mother Karla is still living in Germany.  His father Paul and brother Deda are deceased.  Jurgen loved his BMW motorcycle and sadly he had to stop riding three years ago due to prostate cancer.  Jurgen was a fighter right till the end of his life.  Thank you to the nurses from the VON, Jillian, Linda, Donna and Lindsay.  Thanks also the PSW's Jennifer, Larry & Patricia.  As special thank you to Dr. Quinn for all the home visits made since August.  Thank you to Robyn & Michelle from CCAC, to the caregiver support group, Prostate Cancer support group, Mindy from Doug Hunter Ford, and to our three friends Sandra, Francine and Charles.  His cats Max and Tiger will miss him.  Cremation has taken place.
